How do I change my Canvas password and view other Profile and User settings?

Open Settings

In Global Navigation, click the Account link [1], then click the Settings link [2].

Edit Settings

Click the Edit Settings button on the right hand side of the webpage.

Change Settings

If enabled, edit the appropriate settings:

  1. Full Name is used for grading, SIS imports, and other administrative items.
  2. Display Name is how other users will see your name in discussions, announcements, etc.
  3. Sortable Name defaults to your last name, first name and appears in sorted lists so admins can search for it.
  4. Default Email can be set when you have multiple Notificationemail addresses associated with your account.
  5. Language can be set to your native language and is the language you want to use in Canvas (does not apply if an instructor sets a specific language for a course).
  6. Time Zone can be set to where you are located and displays assignments in your local time.

 

Change Password

Click the Change Password checkbox [1] to create a new password. Type your old password in the Old Password field [2]. Type your new password in the New Password field [3]. Type your new password again in the Confirm Password field [4].

Update Settings

Click the Update Settings button.

Use High Contrast Styles

For accessibility, you can scroll down the settings page to the Feature Options heading. You can enable high contrast styles, which increases the color contrast of text and images on your computer screen to make them more distinct and easier to identify.  

To use High Contrast Styles, click the On button next to the feature option. You may need to refresh your browser for the option to take effect.
